THANK YOU to everyone who supported our 2022 book drive! We were able to collect over 2,000 books to benefit elementary school students in Ward 8 of Southeast DC with a reading proficiency rate of 11%. The Ward has twice the poverty and unemployment than the rest of Washington, DC. COVID has significantly hindered the learning of these students, who desire books of their own and really enjoy reading.
Without your generous support, we could not have helped so many students!
A special thank you to Huntington Learning Center, Great Dogs, and Thelo Greek for accepting donations during the book drive. Fantastic businesses that really support our mission.
Our book drive for 2022 has ended, and we are no longer accepting books at this time. Please continue to check our website for updates and new initiatives.

Hi! My name is Samantha Grayer, and I am a sophomore at Langley High School in McLean, Virginia. Throughout my life, I have constantly been involved with a variety of charitable causes. From fostering dogs and cats to delivering donated food to those in need, helping others in the community is something that I do frequently and truly enjoy. So, after making a few batches of chocolate covered strawberries, I jumped at the idea that I could put them to good use, and I created Berries for Books.
In school, English has always been my favorite subject. I love writing and I am an avid reader. I realize that there are students who may not have access to the same learning and reading resources as me, and they face a variety of literacy issues. I decided to establish Berries for Books to promote and support child literacy. I want to give other students an opportunity to explore their love for English. A strong reading and writing foundation can open a world of opportunities.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
